Description

Chromed ECU v1.0 Features:

  • Larger fuel and timing maps (high and low octane)
  • Ability to control fuel cut (called Boost Limit)
  • Ability to run larger than stock fuel injectors
  • All MAF tables defined
  • Fuel Trim cut offs
  • Custom MUT 3 table setup for my custom data file for evoscan
  • Ability to log wideband thru pin 93 of the ecu (LC1 and AEM EUGO only for now)
  • Ability to log boost with AEM boost gauge thru the MAP sensor pin
  • Peripheries mapped out so the user can enable/disable CE lights
  • Stock boost control (98/99 VR4 ecu only!!)
  • Stock boost gauge modified to show engine load in a more useful manner (98/99 VR4 ecu only!!)

Chromed ECU v1.0.1 Features everything from 1.0 in addition to:

  • Every table is converted from LOAD based units into Air MASS (g/cyl).
  • “Boost Cut” is now named “Fuel Cut”
  • “Air Mass” has been added to the EVOScan file. This is a 2byte log request that can be substituted for 2 byte LOAD.

NOTE!!! Just cuz the CE light isn’t on doesn’t mean you will pass the OBD2 tests. I haven’t even started looking into that area of the code yet!

NOTE:

This ROM is based off of the latest Mitsubishi Factory ROM which is calibrated for the 1999 Specification ECU.

Yes there is a difference!

The 1999 Specification ECU has a different O2 calibration which can “see” down to about 200mv vs. the 1998 Specification ECU which can only “see” down to 300mv.  Although this is a small change, the code is designed for this.  Running a 1999 ROM (or Greg’s Chrome) on a 1998 ECU or the competitor’s ECUs will filter out the lower 300mv of the O2 rendering the ECU effectively “blind” from heavy lean conditions.

The 1999 Specification ECU also has different throttle circuits which the 1999 ROM is designed to take advantage of in order to remove the dreaded lean tip in throttle or acceleration stumble conditions.  This was a known problem which is why the Mitsubishi Engineers released the latest ROM for the 1999 3000GT.  Running a 1999 ROM (or Greg’s Chrome) on a 1998 ECU or the competitor’s ECU will not take full advantage of this and you may occasionally experience a part throttle stumble or lean tip in condition.  This is not just a code issue and can only be fixed by running the proper ROM with the proper ECU.

All of the Official Clone ECUs are re-manufactured to the 1999 Specification.  The competitors are NOT!

Warning! Improper use of the modifications in this ROM can and will damage your engine. It is up to YOU the user to read & understand how the features work!
